Spring Break

During Spring Break, we were able to visit with family members who live in the Portland area. On the evening of Easter Jason's sister, Rachel, and her hubby and our nephew Michael ( almost 2) came to visit us from Aloha. Jason had given Michael his first golf set. Michael wasn't too sure what to do with it so Rachel and Jason were helping him with the bag and clubs.

Michael needed a little help getting started.

Poor little guy kept using the driver like a hockey puck, but he was determined to hit the ball into the hole!
Uh-oh! Thanks to uncle Jason, Michael found his ball!
With a little more instruction and Michael was on his way to being a pro.

During our trip to Portland, we spent some time with Ryan and went to a Portland Trailblazer game. It was SOOOOOOO much fun! We also visited Mama and Papa, my dad's parents. Below are some pictures of my dad and Mama and Papa.

Here Ryan, Jason, and I with Mama and Papa. My mom was the one behind the camera =0)

Dr. Seuss Week

This past week at school we celebrated Dr. Seuss week. Our goal, as a school, was to find 6,100 vocabluary words. Each grade level had chose words for the students to find. If we made our goal, Mrs. McGree had to eat a bug....a real bug on stage at the end of the week assembly! Various days were set aside during the week such as crazy hat day, "Who" hair, and silly sock day.

Here, my teaching partner and I are ready with our "Who hair." Susan wadded funky braids on the top of her hair and then put twisted pipe cleaners in the braids. I bobby pinned strands of hair and stuck a package of colored pencils in my hair....boy was my head sore by the end of the day. Taking out those colored pencils felt like scalp therapy!!

My mom was subbing for Jason on this day and snapped a picture of Susan and I in his classroom.

I love my Kindy friends! Kindergarten teachers Eileen, Kristina, and I pose with our silly socks! Note Eileen's fashionable shirt too.....

Even though Jason snapped this picture of our feet, we were each posing with a smile on our face.....we had to laugh afterwards and were all gald it was Friday!

Look at those cute smiling faces! Have you seen any sweeter looking second graders (and yes, they do have permission for their pictures to be taken)?

Oh say can you say, "My, look at the sizes, shapes, and colors of their pigglies!"

On Friday, we had a big celebration assembly. Jason and I were asked to help with the entertainment segment. In each of our classrooms we have "Dance Offs" for fun. A dance off is where you have 2 students dance while disco/pop music plays. At the end of the dance the crowd decides by applause which dance off contestant they liked best. It is SOOOOOOO much fun! So here were are "arguing" over who has the better dancers in our classess......it eventually came down to having 2 second graders dance off and then two third graders dance off. The winners had a final dance off against each other.....the crowds LOVED it!

Second graders, Katie and Connor are gettin their groove on to the tune of Everybody Dance Now. Katie is a "professional" dancer and Connor practiced at his parent's gym for days....I'm not kidding....they were really good dancers!

At the end of the student Dance Offs, Mrs. McGree and Jason had a Dance Off. Mrs. McGree had been calling Katie in her office at the end of each day so Katie could teach her some moves. Here they are competing against Jason and two of his students!

Jason and Tucker are working hard to beat Mrs. McGree and her entourage! But, Mrs. McGree and the girls won the Dance Off!!
